Mompox inspired the universal work of Gabriel García Márquez, its nature, architecture and especially the idiosyncrasy and folklore of Mompos are identifiable in the work of the Colombian Nobel Prize winner. If you have read any of his works, when you visit Mompox you will feel like you are living inside them and you will understand details that cannot be perceived from the city.

As a curious fact, Mompox was the setting for films such as “Chronicle of a Death Foretold”, by Gabriel García Márquez and numerous television productions such as “Escalona”, it has also inspired music videos such as “La foto de los dos” by Carlos Vives.
